Guidelines for Muckers (programmers)
Getting a MUCKER Bit
The first thing to note about MUCKER bits is that they will
be, of necessity, very rare. There will be many programs in program
libraries set up for people to use and we hope that the necessity for
programming will be minimal. But, of course there are some times when
people would like to program to enhance their domains and some people
simply like to program, and we certainly don't want to discourage
programmers from the MUCK. The procedure for getting a MUCKER bit
will be to send mail to either a chancellor or the head chancellor.
The chancellors will forward any requests to the head chancellor; the
two of them will discuss the application. If both agree on the player
being accepted he will be given a bit, if application is denied the
player cannot apply again.
(Note: send applications only to Chancellors Sjade (head), Mouse, and
Radagast.)
What Does Being A MUCKER Take?
The application for approval will require one basic thing.
Designing a program (the scope of which the player can determine
himself but which must be beneficial to the MUCK in general and will
be approved by a chancellor) that will demonstrate a decent working
knowledge of MUF. Once that program is completed the programmer will
be allowed to do whatever he wishes with his MUCKER bit, within
certain limitations
MUCKER No-no's
The following programs will not be allowed in any form on
HoloMUCK. If any programs of the natures described below are
found, the person who is the owner will be told by a chancellor to
remove it immediately if he/she is on line. If not it will
be @recycled without question and a mail message will be sent to the
owner indicating its removal. Repeat offenders will lose their
MUCKER bits permanently and may be subject to further action.
Some of these restrictions are common to many Mucks, and are
simply a matter of courtesy (no bugs, scanners). Others are in
keeping in line with the "realism" theme, encouraging "real world"
topological/geographical connections" (no pagers, thinknet,
pennyadders, teleporters). (Details forthcoming.)
